Sun Prairie 2004 Makeover Contest Winner

The second annual Sun Prairie Makeover contest has come to a close. Founded and sponsored by Dentistry of Wisconsin, the 2004 contest was co-sponsored by Prairie Athletic Club (PAC), Hair Excellence, Majestic Limo of Sun Prairie and the Portabella Restaurant in Madison. Together, these businesses provided a makeover for our winner, Karen Jackson, which changed her both inside and out.

Jackson had wanted to apply to last year’s contest but never had her photo taken. This year family and friends encouraged her to try, saying she would “look better and feel better with better teeth.”

Jackson’s friends were certainly right in their encouragements. She received a wealth of dental procedures from Dr. Armstadt's office including gum treatments, teeth whitening, natural-colored fillings, bridges and several all-porcelain crowns, and now describes her new smile as “wonderful.” Friends and relatives celebrated her makeover by demanding to see her smile, a demand which Jackson is now more than willing to oblige.

Jackson also received a PAC personal trainer for three months. During this time she lost 17 pounds, and she intends to lose an additional 20 by January.

On the last day of the makeover, Jackson enjoyed her first chauffeured limousine ride. After her morning workout, she had lunch and headed to Hair Excellence, where the staff gave her a shorter, livelier hairstyle to go with her lighter frame and brighter smile. Jackson says she now gets compliments about her hair as well.

When her new hairstyle and other salon treatments were complete, Jackson was taken home to change for dinner. As a finale, the Jacksons were taken to the Portabella restaurant for a lovely dinner and “scrumptious” dessert.

Jackson says of her makeover, “You kind of feel like royalty during the final day – everyone is helping you to look your best. It really was an experience – something I’ll probably [never be able] to do again. I feel better – I’m laughing more."
